LCD is short for liquid-crystal display. A low-power,
flat-panel display used in many digital devices to display numbers or images.
Liquid crystals (LCs) are matter in a state that has properties between those
of conventional liquid and those of solid crystal.
It will appear as transparent liquid state when being
heated, and as turbid solid state of crystalline particles when being cooled
down.
CLASSIFICATION OF LCD TV ACCORDING TO ITS BACKLIGHT
Cold Cathode
Cold-cathode lamps include cold-cathode fluorescent lamps
(CCFLs) and neon lamps.
LED
LED is short for Light-Emitting Diode.
An electronic semiconductor device that emits light when an
electric current passes through it.
COLD-CATHODE LAMPS ( LCD TV)
According To The Type Of Cold-cathode Lamp
Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp (CCFL)
External Electrode Fluorescent Lamp (EEFL)
LIGHT
EMITTING DIODE (LED TV)
Type of Backlight
1. White LED-backlit LCD TV
2. RGB LED-backlit LCD TV
Arrangement of Backlight
Edge
Backlighting
Advantages:
- The 5 basic advantages of LED TV
- The Edge Lighting LED TV is slimmer than D-LED TV.
Disadvantages:
- The black levels are not that deep and the edge area of the screen and has a propensity to be brighter than the center area.
- Cannot locally dim a segment where it is needed.
- If you look well, you will see that there is some light leakage at the sides of the display where the LED's are located.
Full-Array or Direct LED TV (D-LED)
Advantages:
- The 5 basic advantages of LED TV.
- Lesser power consumption.
- Higher Contrast Ratio.
- Local Dimming is possible.
- Unsusceptible for screen burn-in.
Disadvantage:
- Relatively heavier and thicker than Edge Lighting LED TV .
- Local dimming means that each LED or a specific group of LEDs can be turned on and off independently within certain areas of the screen, thus providing more control of the brightness and darkness for each those areas, depending on the source material being displayed.
Wow, excellent
