OLED Technology - OLED vs LED Display

Monday, January 5, 2015

OLED or Organic Light Emitting Diodes is a new screen uses a new display technology, it also know as a flat light emitting technology where in if an electrical current is applied, a bright light is emitted.

It turns out that OLEDs are thin and simple, it can be used to create flexible and even transparent displays. This is pretty exciting as it opens up a new world of possibilities.

OLED can be used to make displays (e.g. mobile phones screen, TV's display, Computer monitor) and lighting (e.g. lamp, head lights).

OLED TV's are more brighter, more efficient, thinner and featuring better refresh rates and contrast than ordinary LED, LCD, or Plasma. OLED TV's deliver the best picture quality. Because it emit light by itself, so back-light are not required, makes gadget thinner and more efficient than LED Display.

OLED vs LED
  • OLED display have the following advantages over LED display;
  • Lower power consumption
  • Faster refresh rate and better contrast
  • Greater brightness - The screen are brighter, and with a fuller viewing angle
  • Exciting displays - new types of displays, that we do not have today, like ultra-thin, flexible or transparent displays
  • Better durability - OLEDs are very durable and can operate in a broader temperature
  • Lighter weight - the screen can be made very thin, and can even be printed on flexible surfaces.
